Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Paint To Furniture And Everything In Between

Sponsored by Home Decorating Made Easy

Hi gang, Rick here again with Bedroom Decorating Ideas with news and views from the decorating industry.

Home Decorating - A fun adventure

Owning your own home can be a fun adventure into the world of home decorating. Choose from an abundance of styles, looks, textures, fabrics, and colors. Use your home to accommodate your lifestyle. Turn the living room into a family room, the family room into a home theater and the spare bedroom into a home office. Here are more ideas to help you make the most of your biggest investment.

Painting Your Home

White is out. Think color, texture, and contrast. Mix colors to create a theme throughout your home. Savannah browns, beiges and sandy vanilla yellows, Jungle greens, browns and strategic bursts of orange or red like jungle flowers blooming at the canopy's edge. Buy small samples of color and experiment with your favorite hues to create your very own home decorating theme. Balance a dark color with a contrasting light color or white trim.

Drapery in your home

Throw away the venetian blinds and wooden slats. Use a combination of modern, lightweight fabrics, sheers, chenille, silks and velvets to dress up your windows. Don't be afraid to create two different styles in coordinating colors at opposite ends of the room. There are no rules any more for decorating with drapes. Let your home reflect your own creative style. There are endless possibilities with fabric, color, texture, light and contrast.

Functional Furniture

Furniture has two purposes. It is functional, and it also fills up the space. When you are buying functional furniture, such as seating, don't just buy a place to sit. Buy color and texture that enhance your lifestyle and help you pull together the decorating style you have used in your home. Think of sectionals that include storage spaces for organizing remotes, and holding drinks or coffee tables that contain extra drawers or bins that you can use for throw blankets or children's toys. Think of side tables that double as book shelves, book shelves that double as storage cabinets and storage cabinets that not only hold a lot of stuff, but look beautiful into the bargain.

Wall Hangings for your home

Use art work to express your fine taste, tapestries, embroideries or throw blankets to cover blemishes in walls and paintwork, and photos to personalize your space. Frame keepsakes like tickets to a special show, a map of a favorite vacation spot or a far-off place where loved ones live. Keep cuttings from favorite birthday cards from special people and make a collage for your entry way. Little things like this in your home bring a personal touch to your decorating style that only you could have come up with.

Home Decorating to add beauty to your home

If you think form, fun and function every time you think of home decorating it will always be easy to add to the beauty of your home whenever you are ready to paint the next wall, replace an old sofa or buy a fine piece of art for your walls.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Textured Paint and Faux Finishes

Sponsored by Home Decorating Made Easy
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Textured paint and faux finishes have become more popular in recent years than at any other point in history. One reason for this is because so many home improvement stores are offering classes for those who are willing to pay the price for the paint so that the average Joe or Jane can recreate these fabulous finishes on their own walls as well. The fact is it is truly amazing what works of art can be created with the clever and creative use of textured paint.

Faux finishes create illusion

Faux finishes can be used to create the illusion of anything from plaster or brick to leather and a few amazing things in between. Those who are skilled at applying faux finishes are in great demand for their artistic talents though most home owners can do a passable job if they are willing to take the time required to properly learn the technique. Even wood grains can be imitated through the use of a talented faux finisher and paint.

Textured Paints a major design feature

Using textured paints and faux finishes can be done in almost any room in the house though they seem to be most common in living rooms and kitchens as a major design feature. There are some ambitious homeowners who have decided to take this style of painting into every room of the home. While it may seem a good idea in theory there are some drawbacks to this as well.

Textured Paints and Faux Finishes time consuming

First of all, textured paints and faux finishes are very time consuming. If you are hiring a professional to do the work their time is a lot of your money and this is something that really needs to be considered. Is the amount of time really worth the reward of the finished project as far as you, as the homeowner, are concerned? Most people find that it isn’t worth all that much money and time but others really appreciate the look and feel that it is vital to their enjoyment of their homes. Whichever category you fall into it is important that you realize that this could become a costly proposition.

Faux Finishes and Textured Paints are novel and spectacular

Another thing to consider is that many who manage to bring a texture or faux finish of some sort into every room of their homes often decide after a little while to remove some of their hard work. The reason for this is that in small doses faux finishes and textured paints are novel and spectacular. In large doses they can be more than slightly overwhelming and, more importantly, unimpressive. There is something to be said about the fact that sometimes less is more.

Better Decorating Experience

This doesn’t mean that some homes do not wear faux finishes beautifully in almost every nook and cranny. Some homes are simply meant to be decorated from one end of home to the other end. These homes are simply lovely no matter how many new finishes are added to the walls, furniture, fireplace mantles, and bathroom cabinets. There never seems to be too much in these homes. There are some homes however that beg for moderation when it comes to designs such as this. Listen to your home when decorating and you should have a much better decorating experience overall without overwhelming either your home or your guests.

Textured Paints and Faux Finishes - free workshops

If faux finishes and/or textured painting is something you would like to incorporate into your home decorating plans you should be delighted to discover that there are many, many resources both online and offline that can assist you with your goals. The first and best choice is to check with local hardware and home improvement stores in order to see if they are offering any free workshops on faux finishes or textured painting in your area. If they are then you are set. However, if they are not your local library may prove to be a valuable source for videos, magazines, and books that offer step-by-step instructions. The Internet is also an excellent source. Do not forget the value of spaces such as YouTube and Google Video as they may have some actual demonstrations or how to videos to help as well.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Tips on choosing the right furniture

Sponsored by SecretsToHomeDecoratingSuccess.com
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. As well as a place of rest, the bedroom provides an escape from stress and worry - a haven from the everyday comings and goings of family life. It’s the most private room in the house and, unlike other areas of a family home, belongs exclusively to the individual or couple who sleep there. With the right furnishings and planning, it can become an idyllic refuge that offers a great deal of comfort and relaxation.

Choice of bed

The choice of bed is of course a main consideration when decorating a bedroom. The average person spends over a third of their life in a bed so it’s important that the right kind is chosen. Symptoms such as back-pain and lack of sleep are often attributed to a poor bed and merely buying a new mattress will not necessarily alleviate these problems. The best solution is to purchase a divan and mattress together, considering that both are designed to work with each other. The big furniture retailers sell them individually or in sets.

Brass beds can prove a very attractive centre-piece and are relatively inexpensive nowadays. They offer a more traditional ambience and are suited to most styles of bedding, due to their practical design. The same is true of four-poster beds. These can provide added privacy as well as enhancing the look and feel of a bedroom. However, they are more suited to larger, high-ceiling bedrooms so careful consideration is advised if you’re thinking about buying one.

The placement of a bed is often influenced by space. The standard practice is to place it in the centre of the room, with the headboard pushed against a wall. Although this method can save space, if your bedroom is spacious it might be worth considering other layouts. The positioning of a bed might enable you to include other furniture pieces such as a desk or table. It can also provide more storage space.

Bedroom’s living space

A bedroom’s space is often divided between two people. Therefore, it’s worth considering the allocation of storage furniture to each person - it can help bring order and organisation to a bedroom’s living space. Wardrobes and cupboards are a popular means of storage and can often bring character and charm. Wardrobes with sliding doors are a more space-effective alternative to hinged versions and are available in a variety of designs. It is worth paying a bit extra if you want the sliding-door feature as budget versions often suffer from sticking runners. Chests of drawers provide a further storage option and come in the form of tall-boys and standard three-door varieties. If you don’t have enough hanging space for cloths then this type of furniture can offer an effective solution to clothes storage.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Country Home Decorating

Sponsored by HomeCraftBusiness.com
Hi gang, Rick here again from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Country home decorating is a very popular design choice. It is a style that conveys welcome and warmth. It also adds a touch of whimsy and thoughts of simpler times. These things help create a relaxing environment for family and friends to enjoy.

One of the first places that people use country home decorating is the kitchen. Kitchens are the hub of a home and should be warm and inviting. Some popular kitchen country home decorating themes are roosters, chickens, cows, and apples. These items usually have an antiqued finish on them to enhance the country theme. Some frilly gingham curtains will add just the right country touch to your kitchen.

Wreaths are appropriate in country home decorating in all seasons. You can get them to match any color scheme and reflect any theme. Not all wreaths are pine based. Some are simply branches woven together. You can make one yourself using craft supplies. There are many online sites and books that will give you step by step instructions on making wreaths. Wreaths are pretty on doors to welcome people to your home. They can also be hung as decorations inside on walls or interior doors.

Gingham is a classic way to create a country home decorating style. This fabric instantly gives a country impression. It can be used in upholstery on couches, arm chairs, dining room chairs, and more. It is also used in window treatments, and even shower curtains. Gingham is a very versatile fabric that washes well and is durable. You can use it in many decorations including wreaths and swags.

Gingham patterns can be used for more country home decorating things than just fabric creations. You can use a gingham checked wallpaper to decorate your walls. You can use the same wallpaper to accent practical things like a file organizer or a wall shelf. You can also find gingham printed shelf liners that make opening your pantry a nice surprise.

Vintage hardware is a great country home decorating idea. It adds a whimsical touch of eras gone by. You can get hardware in all different styles and finishes. You can find great vintage hardware to suit all your country home decorating needs.

Stenciling is another popular country home decorating trick. You can stencil around the top of a room like a border. You can also stencil pretty designs to match your décor on wooden shelves or homemade wall plaques. This is a great way to incorporate your personality and beliefs into your home’s decorations.

Finding country home decorating ideas is not difficult. Look for items that appeal to you and include them in your current décor. There is a lot out there, so have fun looking!

Devine Decor offers a wide variety of contemporary and upscale home accessories such as lamps, vases, mirrors, console tables, wall art, curio cabinets, chairs and more. Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Wall Art Tapestries

Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Decorating a home can be very exciting. You have all these dreams of how you want the finished result to look. But you're just not sure how or where to start. You've purchased new furniture, but the rooms still seem to be missing something.

The walls look blank even though you feel you chose excellent color schemes. You're not sure what's missing, but you know it still needs something to make it special. Wall art tapestries are probably what will give your room that complete and gorgeous look.

When many people hear the words 'wall art', they usually think of paintings. You can find some beautiful paintings in furniture stores and even discount stores if you're on a budget. However, if you want your walls to have a unique look to them, you're going to want to use wall tapestries.

Wall tapestries are popular with art lovers and home owners alike, because of the unique sense of 'presence' that they have about them, that has to be seen and felt to be understood. Guests often zone out of paintings, but the presence of a tapestry usually captures their attention because of the unique feel they give to a room.

Here are some tips on selecting wall art tapestries for your home:

1. To bring a sense of 'nature' into your home

Do you feel a need to give your room or home a sense nature, to give it some freshness and natural beauty? Wall art tapestries can give this sense of nature in a warm and inviting way. If your dining room has a large blank wall, a large wall art tapestry of flowers or a perfectly kept flower bed will give the illusion of nature at its finest. Landscapes of trees or forest also give a serene beauty that is simply sublime.

2. To give a sense of expansiveness into a room

Tapestries of landscapes and verdures work wonderfully in any room, long hallways or above stairways to give an expanded sense of space. By providing a background, tapestries give a specific sense of time and space in a room, and make it look larger than it actually is. This sense of perspective is a wonderful effect that you and your guests will enjoy and talk about for a long time.

3. To bring attention to an architectural detail

Tapestry wall art are often used to bring attention to a certain architectural design that you're proud of but often is overlooked. For example, the wall above a landing in a stairway brings beauty to the area and attention to the features of the staircase that few other pieces of art work can. By giving this sense of beauty to this area, the architectural features in the area are accentuated and made so much more beautiful.

Now that you've learned a little more about wall art tapestries, you're ready to find some tapestries that appeal to your taste and capture your imagination. And when looking at your own home, whether it's a small apartment or a large estate, look for the areas and rooms that can be enhanced with the effect of a wall art tapestry.

Tom Matherson is a writer for Worldwide Tapestries which offers a range of wall art tapestries and wall decor to transform any home. See this site for the latest designs in tapestry wall art in a range of themes that you can use to enhance any room setting. Thanks to bestsyndication.com for this.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Spring Decorating Time

Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas Are you feeling the winter blues? Decorating your home can help you feel happier during the long winter season and start to love being in your home. There are ways to add a little spice to your home.

With the snow relentlessly hitting our area, you may be feeling depressed. It's a common feeling during the winter, but you can change that. It all starts with great furniture.

"You need to invest in a sofa and invest in a mattress. And then from there, you other purchases can be less expensive. But, those are the two most important things," said Jessica Pearson, Interior Designer, Pearson Designs.

Pearson showed me a few choices she recommended.

"This would be a great option because it's a bench craft. It's also got wood trim and it's got high density foam in it. That will keep up nice and have a great look," said Pearson.

"This would be a great option for families because it's micro fiber so it's really easy to clean. You just clean it with a little soap and water," said Pearson.

"This is a tempur pedic bed and if you want to get the best night's sleep that you've ever had -- this is probably your best option," said Pearson.

There's a price to lift your mood. But, one that you may want to consider.

"Most of our really nice sofas start at $499 and go to like $799. You can get a really nice sofa for that price," said Carl Durk, Owner of Maple St. Sit N Sleep.

In the winter time, there are a couple of quick fixes you can do. Pearson said one of those is just adding a different color.

"Bringing in some brighter colors just to make you feel happy in the winter. When it's kind of dreary outside," said Pearson.

"I like to stick with just natural colors like yellow and green. They're soothing, but they're springy at the same time," said Pearson.

Pearson said buying new throw pillows will make you feel more at home. You can also buy paintings, clocks or mirrors to change up what's on your walls. She said no matter what: it's your house.

"If you love it, I mean, if you take a picture and you absolutely love it, it's going to make you feel better," said Pearson.

She added buying good, quality furniture is the trick along with buying items that match your style.

Many furniture stores offer interior designers to help you pick out things for your home. Pearson said while it may seem like an expensive investment to revamp your home, it may drastically change your mood. Making for a better you.
