Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Television Decorating Shows

Hi gang, Rick with Bedroom Decorating ideas. Television decorating shows have proven it is possible to have a bedroom that looks designer without the expense of one. Give some thought to your bedroom interior design and great things can be achieved with a limited amount money.

A bedding set should be the first decision on your list. The bedding is likely to be the most dominant element in your room, making it a good place to start planning your design. Choose a bedding in order to match it with the colors or the desired theme of your room.

The closeout bin and discounted items are a great way to create a look for your bed instead of buying sets of expensive items. Go out looking for things that will go with the bedding being sure to bring along some color swatches for an exact match. Go to a home goods or home decorating store and purchase a lot of pillows with different shapes and patterns with your key colors and give your bed a designer look by placing them at the head of your bed.

Another one of the important bedroom interior design tips is careful furniture shopping which can mitigate the high costs associated with this key element to your room design. In this case, being patient often works to your advantage - you could purchase a brand-new set of furniture today at a manufacturer’s outlet, but you could save half or even more of the cost if you scout out great bargains at yard sales and area consignment stores. New knobs and fresh paint job on the old set will accomplish a new look for the overall piece.

If you are looking for a way to spice up your sleeping quarters without spending a great amount of money, try a fresh coat of paint. Why not use bright colors if they enhance the theme you have in mind? Use one of the many different faux finishes or paint effects available from your local paint store for an exclusive look in your home.

For a unique bedroom the accessories are important and shopping for them is fun and money saving at flea markets, private sales and consignment stores. But don’t buy the first great value that you see - a piece of furniture that doesn’t quite fit the vision of your room is no bargain, no matter how inexpensive it was. In order to achieve a perfect look of your room, you must plan what things are needed to for it before you go shopping. Consulting your list will ensure that you only get what you actually need when you go shopping!

If you can picture the bedroom of your choice and know where to shop than bedroom interior design is not as hard and costly as you think. Good sales are a sure way to save money. Your patience in waiting for just the right furniture and accessories will pay off with a designer look for less. Thanks to decorate123.com for this.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Cushions for Comfort

Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Pretty cushions in extravagant fabrics will add luxurious finish and heightens the comfort quotient of your living environs. Throw pillows on a sofa or extra pillows on a bed also invite you to relax - just a little longer.

Cushions can be suited in colours to match every season of the year or every change of decorating mood that you might live. They can also be made for every room in the home - and living spaces where there are no rooms at all.

Outdoors

Outdoor cushions are made to withstand sun and weather. They can be made of UV-resistant outdoor fabric tough enough to withstand the elements yet remain soft to the touch with quick-dry fill. Outdoor cushions are often treated to resist fading, mould and mildew and clean up easily with a mild detergent and warm water.

Wherever they are used in the home, cushions should be designed for comfort and body support.

Throw cushions can also serve as fillers to an otherwise completely furnished room, adding depth and dimension.

Seating

Cushions can be used in low seating areas as well as on sofas. Make sure the ones on the floor are larger than those thrown on the sofa.

In the bedroom cushions on a made-up bed look pretty and elegant. Make sure the colours you choose for your cushions highlight the decor elements which you want to emphasise.

Colours chosen should either contrast or complement the rest of the decor on your room; in a pleasant way.

The experts advise that you should upgrade your rugs when you change your cushions. The two changes together will make a world of difference in your rooms.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Candleholders add Style

Hi gang, Rick here at Bedroom decorating Ideas with an article on how Candleholders add style and grace to your home. Among the most powerful mood enhancers in a room is the glow of candlelight. It beckons guests to its warmth, mesmerizes with its flickering and lends mystery. It casts a romantic spell on an interior.

Candleholders can be ordinary or as captivating as the dancing lights. From simple candlesticks to elaborate candelabras, table centerpieces and even wall-mounted containers, candleholders are decorative accessories that hold their own even when the votives, tapers or pillars they cradle are not lighted.

Candleholders long have been collectibles and span a rich history of design styles. Tall hand-carved, painted or gilded wood candlesticks from Italy and delicate enameled 18th-century French holders are sold at auctions and in antique shops for hundreds to thousands of dollars apiece.

Today they are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles — from luxurious to rustic, from exotic to whimsical. The variety is considerable, ranging from low-slung holders for tea lights to sculptural candleholders as tall as a couple of feet. Sconces create still other dynamics.

Depending on the style, candleholders can be grouped in odd numbers of similar glass, crystal, brass, bronze, pewter, iron, stainless steel, ceramic or wood candlesticks of varying heights. More than one type can be used in a room on tabletops, sideboards and mantels. Some candleholders are designed expressly for use in the fireplace.

Decorating with candleholders, as with other well-chosen accessories, can add personality and a note of grace, strength or elegance as an accent or focal point.

Among the most versatile designs is the hurricane, a tall glass cylinder that surrounds the candle within. From clean to traditional styles, some with curves, the simplicity transcends decor. Footed hurricanes are especially eye-catching. Metal bases can be coordinated with other metal accents in a room.

Glass and crystal candleholders add a jewel-like sparkle to a space as they interact with warm candlelight. Mosaic candleholders layer iridescent color as candlelight glows through tiny cut-glass pieces in a captivating way. Another kind of light play comes from holders with eyelet designs, such as pierced tin chandeliers. Light shines through the openings, creating intriguing patterns. Candleholders with mirrored bases, as well as those made of mercury glass, also lend reflective qualities.

Wood candleholders are perennial favorites. Dark woods have increased in popularity, as they have in furniture design, and their placement has a grounding impact similar to that of black. A contemporary option is a long, narrow container or tray with recessed spaces for a row of round tea lights. It makes a simple architectural statement as a centerpiece on a dining table or on a cocktail table. Wood pillar holders can be grouped for visual strength, a nexus on the cocktail table.

Candleholders also can be used as wall decorations. Hang individual holders in a group to create an arresting composition. Or use a single 3-foot-tall scrolled ironwork medallion that holds removable glass votive cups and serves as a piece of art.

No matter what style of candleholder you choose, integrating candlelight into your home fashions an enchanting ambience, an intimate glow, romance and the suggestion of simpler times, something that can be illuminating for all who embrace it.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Bohemian Bedroom Decorating

Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas with Bohemian Decorating. If want to change the look of you bedroom, Bohemian decorating style is a very good option. Read on to get useful tips on Bohemian bedroom decorating.

One of the best ways to break the monotony in your life is by changing the surrounding that you live in. How do you do this? Simple! By completely changing the look of atleast your bedroom, if redoing the entire house is not possible.

If you thinking along these lines only, this article will prove as the perfect help for you. Here, we have provided a number of tips that will help you in decorating your bedroom the Bohemian way. It will involve the use of luxurious fabrics, strong colors and freestyle decorating patterns. The details are very diverse and the linens used are generously loud and heavily patterned.

Bohemian Bedroom Decorating - Items Needed

Fabrics (in bright colors)
Paint (in bright colors)
Knick knacks

Procedure
The first thing that you should do to create a Bohemian décor for your bedroom is to change the color of the walls. The trick here is to go for bold colors like red, orange, blue, etc.
The next step will be to accentuate the color of the walls with that of the linen. The color of the bedspreads and curtains should be contrasting with that of the walls.

Light fixtures and lamps are the things that you need to look into next. Select those fixtures that cast deep hues. You can even wrap the lamp shades with scarves to alter the lighting.

Use lots and lots and lots of accessories to decorate you room. Bohemian look is all about celebration. Not even a single corner should be left untouched and austere. The knick knacks that you choose should have rich colors and embellished exteriors. You can go for antique showpieces too.

Bohemian look is all about patterns and this should be included in your bed too. You can make use of quilts, bedspreads or duvets in rich colors. Accessorize the bed with an assortment of pillows, throws, blankets, etc. You can even use a mosquito net or canopy for covering the bed.

Do not leave the walls with just a bold paint. Things like atypical artwork, tapestries or wallpaper should be used to highlight it. Using wall hangings is another good option.

Some Tips

You can make use of old dupattas as well as saris to decorate the walls and windows of the bedroom.

Make use of candles. You can even burn scented candles or incense to give your bedroom a complete Bohemian look.

Never ever match one accessory with the other. Bohemian style involves the use of mismatched and unusual home decor items. Thanks to iloveindia.com for this

Decorating Kid's Rooms With Thrift Store Finds

You can give your children the room of their dreams with some simple bedroom decorating ideas that you can find at thrift stores. First determine what your child really wants. Do you want to go with a theme of their favorite cartoon character or a sport they love? Whatever you decide the biggest mistake you can do is to purchase a comforter with the cartoon character on it. Remember that your little darling is growing and her/his interests change with every birthday. Unless you want to purchase a new comforter on a yearly basis you should keep this to a very neutral color. I know that most mothers shudder at the thought of putting white in a child's room, but solid white, tan, grey, blue and pink are your best bets.
If you have already bought a comforter that your child has out-grown or gotten tired of there is a very inexpensive quick fix! Use the old comforter as a duvet and make a cover to slip over it.
One of the first places I head to in a thrift store is the bedding section. Not because I need new sheets but because bedding can provide you with ample fabrics to make decorator items from. This is especially true for children's rooms. Because a child's interests change so often you will find awesome character sheet sets in thrift stores. So if your princess decides that this year she would like a Dora the Explorer bedroom start browsing through thrift shops because another little girl will have decided that Dora is no longer her dream because Barbie is now the coolest item in her toy box. Most people send their children's used, but not abused, bedding to the thrift store. Remember you are not going to use these sheets for sleeping on. They will be the source for all of your decorative items in the room.
Once you have the character sheets start looking for other sheets with the same color schemes in various patterns. It may take a few trips to a few thrift stores over the course of a few weeks or a month but you are going to be sewing up your finds in the meantime. Look for stripes, patterns, polka dots all with at least one or two of the same colors of the character sheets in them.
Use these sheets to make curtains, bed skirts or dust ruffles, throw pillows, chair pads and slip covers, dresser scarves, organizers, basket liners, etc. Most of the character sheet sets have pillow cases with large characters on them. One of the best things to do with these are to create artwork for the walls. Use a canvas stretcher frame you can pick up at any art store. Center the fabric over the frame and stretch it tight using a stapler to fasten it on the back of the frame. Now either put the artwork in a picture frame you found at the thrift store or just hot glue some ribbon around the outer edge to give it a finished look.
Have fun with pillows. These are items that cost very little but can add a lot of pizazz to the room.

These animal pillows are an excellent example of using various patterns and colors to coordinate decorator items for your child's room. They create fun and interest, they are very inexpensive to make and your child can even play with them.
Many thrift stores also have a fabric section. Here you can pick up scrap pieces of fabric to add to the mix. Also keep your eye out for trim and lace. Many people clean out closets and sewing rooms and their unused craft supplies will end up in the thrift store. These finds are awesome because the price of trim at fabric stores can really add up.
I hope you have enjoyed my article. Have fun being creative! Be sure to browse through my blog for even more bedroom decorating ideas.
