In a down real estate market, some homeowners are taking the time to spruce up their living space
But it's a challenge to put all the colors, fabrics, furniture and accessories together tastefully. But help is just a call away. Lauren Riddiough, an interior designer with Interiors by Decorating Den, is available to help homeowners design and pull together any space.
“When the market is down, a lot of people know they are going to be in their homes a little longer, so they decide to make them beautiful,” Riddiough said.Riddiough, 25, has been in the design business her entire life – or at least exposed to it.
In 1984, her mother Linda went to work as a designer for Interiors by Decorating Den and soon thereafter her father got into the business as well, on the franchise marketing side.
Although she earned a degree in psychology, in 2006 Riddiough purchased her own franchise of Decorating Den and stepped back into the world she grew up in.“It is surreal, but this is absolutely the right thing she should be doing,” said Lauren's mother, Linda. “She's more talented that I am. She sees it and gets it.
”Client Carla Fraser agrees.Fraser is in the middle of designing her house with Riddiough; she is one of Riddiough's 14 current clients.“I was clueless to what I wanted,” said Fraser, who, with her husband and daughter, moved into their River Creek home in March. Fraser immediately got in touch with Riddiough, who had sent her information on a nail file in a welcoming package to the community.“She came in and met with my husband and I, gave us choices and worked with what we had,” Fraser said.
Riddiough is working with the Fraser family, designing the kitchen, family room, dining room, foyer, living room and master bedroom suite.A whole house makeover is something Riddiough loves to delve into, but it is not the only project she will take on.
Interior decorating doesn't have to be a huge expense
“I work with a wide range of budgets,” Riddiough said. “Interior decorating doesn't have to be a huge expense.”Riddiough's take on each project is the same no matter what the size. She meets with the client for a free initial consultation to get a feel for what they are looking for.
She will take photos and then go back to her home office in Leesburg and put together white boards with concepts for the project with a variety of designs and prices.Depending on the project, Riddiough said the typical design project takes 10 to 14 weeks, mainly because of fabric and upholstered items. And while most may think hiring an interior designer is expensive, Riddiough says it all depends on what you want done.“Interior design does not have to be extremely expensive or scary to do,” she said.
The only circumstance in which Riddiough charges an hourly fee ($125/hour) is if a client were to hire her to give advice and help shop for materials.“If you buy product from me, there is no hourly fee,” Riddiough explained. She also added that since she works with 150 vendors, she can usually find what the client wants, and an hourly fee is rarely a discussion point because they usually end up working with her. Thanks to Loudoun Times for this.

Hi gang, welcome to Bedroom Decorating Ideas. You're a teen who wants to re-do your room, but your parents won't pay? Here's some good ways to get started.
Bedroom Decorating Ideas - 13 Steps to Redecorate Your Bedroom Cheaply
Steps
- Make a plan and decide on a theme. How do you want it to look? Look through magazines or websites such as 'Pottery Barn Teen' or 'Delias' for ideas, since they often have pictures of rooms. Decide on things you like and things you don't, colors you like and design details. You should have a rough idea of how you want your room to look.
- Measure and list. Did you ever wonder how big your room is? How much stuff do you have in it? Take a tape measure and find out how long the walls are. Make sure to write this down or you will forget it. Your room might be a lot bigger than you thought. Now, list every piece of furniture that you have in there. You might have a lot, but be patient. If you want to, measure your bed, dresser, and some of the larger pieces of furniture.
- Before you move anything, design your room. You need to know what you want your room to look like, but don't get too set on one idea. If you are copying a room from a catalog, look at the furniture. Ask yourself, "Well, they have a cast-iron bed, and mine's wooden. How would the room change if the bed was like mine?" How would your white desk look if you painted it blue? You can give furniture a completely new look by painting it.
- Remember if your parents aren't too enthusiastic about the idea, now is your time to show them. If you have time, make a design board. Cut out pictures of things you liked from the rooms you looked at, and draw a floor plan and maybe a sketch of how you think it will look when it's done. Once they see how much work you put into this, they will probably be more willing to let you. Make sure you point out things like, "See this? That's just like my bed right now." If they don't like something, be willing to listen to their opinion. If they say no, don't complain, say that they aren't being fair, or tell them that you hate their guts. Accept their decision maturely, and they might change their minds. If they don't, you got plenty of practice for when you become an interior designer, and you'll have a plan when they finally decide that you can redecorate your room.
- Ransack the attic. A lot of time there'll be things up there that have been forgotten but would go great in your room. Before you move anything down there, though, get permission. A good way to ask would be, "Mom, I know you're busy, but I saw some things in the shed that would look good in my room. When you have time, can you come with me and tell me if I can move them into my room?"
- Look at yard sales within walking distance. It's a long shot, but you might find the perfect chair, lamp, or picture frames there. Don't drive, since you'll probably spend more money on gas than you would going to the store and buying it new (especially if you have a diesel car).
- Go to the store. Start by making a list of everything you still need, and take pictures of things you liked if you can. Now, go to Target, WalMart, or someplace that sells everything from paint to rugs to lamps, and sells it cheap. Make sure that you have plenty of time, as WalMart at least is the most confusing store ever.
- Find the paint you want. Make sure that you buy enough, but not too much. But, since you measured your walls earlier, you know exactly how many square feet of wall you have to cover. Also, get rollers and brushes if you don't have them, along with masking tape and anything else you'll need. If you're doing a interesting finish, like painted-on marble, ask the people how you would do that. If you aren't sure, stick with solid colors.
- While the paint is being mixed, browse the other accessories. Rugs, lamps, and translucent plastic boxes are always useful. If you're at WalMart, these are probably at opposite ends of the store, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. You're probably going to need a cart. Keep a mental tally of how much this will cost you (just round up each item to the next dollar, you probably won't pay that much but it's always better to over-estimate it). You'll probably find some furnishings that are almost identical to what you picked out of the catalog. They might not be identical, but they have the same idea. Keep your eye out for these.
- Pick up your paint and head on to the bedding section. Start with the bedding. Do you see curtains or sheets or a comforter that you just love? Keep these in mind while you head off to sewing.
- Look at fabric. If you can sew, see if there's any fabric that would compliment your sheets or curtains. Make throw pillows out of it (You won't need more than a yard, probably). Now go over to the trim. Would that pom-pom trim look good on the bottom of your curtains? How would that gold braid look as a tieback?
- Start redecorating! Take all the furniture out, and get to painting the walls. While you wait for them to dry, paint the furniture. Then set it up like you had planned. Put all the accessories up, make up your bed with your new bedding, and you're done!
- Know that if you have old things that don't really fit your new room, don't throw them away! Keep them in boxes in your closet, or buy colored plastic boxes that coordinate and put it in there. The boxes can be left in your room and will look great.
Tips
- If you haven't got a good idea of how you want your room to look, start making lists of things you like. Have a separate list for colors. If you surround yourself with things you love, your room will come together.
- Try painting your walls different colors, or two pink and two green, or each one a different color. Leave your ceiling white, or your room will be really dark, and even if you like that, the parents probably aren't going to be too enthusiastic.
- Don't buy new furniture, or you'll soon find yourself draining your bank account. If you have all the furniture you need (bed, dresser, desk), why spend money on new ones? Furniture is designed so that it will look good in pretty much any room, so don't worry.
- When buying lamps, the bases are sold separately from the shades. Take advantage of this. When you see a shade that you like, ask yourself how it would look on your lamp base, and stop to see how your current shade would look on that base you just love.
- If you know how to sew (probably with a machine), it's almost always cheaper to buy discounted fabric/flat sheets and make your own curtains than to buy curtain panels. Curtains aren't hard.
- If you see the last in a pattern you like (the only set of polka-dot sheets) put them in your cart, or it'll get taken before you can go back to it. You can always put it back later.
- When you're in the Sewing department, check the Dollar-a-yard bin. You might have to fight with the crazy grannies to get that fabric you like, but there's good fabric there a lot of time.
- Tulle or sheer makes good tiebacks. Tie in big bows or let it hang long for a dramatic look.
- Before you decide that you hate it, give your new room a little time for you to get used to it. You'll find you love it.
Warnings
- Make sure you get your parent's permission before moving or painting walls or furniture.
- Don't go to the mall. You'll spend way more than you need to.
- Paint gets darker when there's a lot of it on a wall. That pretty pale blue you liked becomes eye-smarting when it's covering 20 square feet.
- Only paint on walls.! Parents will get really mad if you get wall paint on the window or the carpet.
- Paint furniture outside, and get permission first!
- If you will ever have small children in your room, make sure that you don't get things that they will break/choke on/suck the Chinese lead-based paint off of within their reach.
- If you have white walls, they are probably be off-white.
- If your walls have color, you'll either need to prime them or get some of the 1-coat paint. Check to see which way turns out cheaper.
- Do a good job, so you'll love spending time in your room.

Hi gang, welcome to Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Think of yourself as a star? If you have ever wanted to turn a small room into a fabulous dressing room, this guide is for you!
9 Tips to Turn a Small Bedroom Into a Dressing Room
Steps
Remove everything from the room. You want a clean space to start with.- Add a big mirror. If possible, get a big floor length mirror and cover an empty wall with it.
- Find closet space. If the room has a closet, you're in luck. But if it doesn't you can easily turn one corner or side of the room into a closet. Just find a closet rod or, even better, a rolling clothing bar. Mount the bar to the wall or take the rolling rack and push it to one side of the room.
- Make sure to have adequate lighting... you want an honest look at yourself before you go out into the world.
- Get a small love seat or comfy chair to relax in. Most of the time the chair or seating area is the main focal point of the room!
- Get some sort of entertainment for the room, whether it's a TV, computer, radio or game system. Just make sure you are able to play music...this is very relaxing.
- Windows. Don't block windows with heavy curtains, furniture, or the rolling clothing rack. Windows will let your mind be free.
- Get a table size water fountain. These are very relaxing to look at.
- Get plants or fish, these are wonderful contributions to a dressing room!
Tips
The dressing room is all about whoever is going to be using it. So only include items this person will like.- If you're lucky enough to have a small bathroom in your room, make sure to deck it out with relaxing things.

Hi gang, welcome back to Bedroom Decorating Ideas. There is nothing quite like entering a room that has that romantic appeal to it, especially, a room that is an important part of our lives...where that we get those peaceful moments of slumber...and may even watch TV.
6 Tips on How to Give Your Bedroom a Romantic Look
Steps
Do your prep. Put the drop cloth or other on the floor, shake and mix the paint (using stir sticks); have all other items in a room nearby.- Begin painting with the maroon or candy apple red paint; start on an outer wall (facing driveway) etc. You'll only be using this color on the wall to that side.
- Paint the remaining walls in the plum color. The ceiling can be in white or painted the same as the walls... some say that white makes the room appear that the ceiling is high up, while colors may lower the ceiling.
- Add a border. Once the darker wall has dried, you can add the border; you want the border in the direct center of the wall, all the way across. Therefore, you'll need to first measure it, and mark the corners with a dark ink pen. You may need to cut some of the wallpaper, in order for it to fit in the areas that a window may stand in your way...more instructions.
- Cut the wallpaper, then lay it flat and totally coat it with the glue, carefully pick it up. Fold it so that the glue area is visible (making it easier to handle); walk over to the wall and place one edge on the pen mark (carefully start smoothing out) while going across... a slightly damp cloth can be used to help.
- Paint all the trim around the doors and the doors white, including closet door, around the windows and the base board.
- Decorate your walls after the paint has dried, be sure to wait several hours before doing so. See "Tips" below for thoughts on decorating.
Tips
It has been said that you should never hang family photos in your bedroom that you'll feel like eyes are watching you; it is best to hang family photos in your living room or hallway.- Oriental fans are always a pleasing touch to add class to your walls; plus they go really well in your bedroom.
- You can, also, spray paint an (extra large) wicker fan (jet black) (using glossy paint), add a beautiful ribbon along with an artificial red rose to it; then hang it above your bed... it truly adds a romantic appeal to the bedroom...pictures can be hung on each side of it, or some oriental fans.
- You can add several elegant looking throw pillows to the bed (along with some dainty ones) giving your bed that special touch.
- A fabulous looking throw at the foot of the bed is always a nice (such as two elephants in love) as an example...maybe even a leopard print.
- A few stuffed animals on your bed, such as a Bengal tiger or a few teddy bears, really gives your bedroom that sense of adventure, and adventures can be romantic.
- Look for some unusual looking flowers for dresser, and add some scented candles to your night table.
- You can hang some nice mini blinds in (black) to darken the room; over the shades add some (white) lacy curtains.
- A (multi colored comforter) will work wonders to offset the room.
- You can add several nice throw rugs, it will add class to the total look of any room... maybe even a nice leopard rug.
- Musical instruments in regards to the border is a wise choice, for it has a romantic appeal to it.
Warnings
When you are hanging the wallpaper, take extra caution and time, for it is a tricky job, especially for one person.Things You'll Need
(1) Pint of maroon or candy apple red interior paint- (1) Gallon of plum interior paint
- (1) Pint of semi gloss white paint (for trim)
- (1) Large paintbrush and (Roller) & stir sticks

Hi gang, welcome to Bedroom Decorating Ideas. You are going to learn to manage with small bedroom space. Well, if you live in an apartment, then you are kind of limited. Nonetheless, you can still make it into your own space!
Steps
Organize your living space. If it is messy, clean it! You need to put papers in folders and whatnot. When you are first moving in is the perfect time to do this.- Switch around the furniture.
- Decorate! You don't always have to buy stuff to make it look pretty. You could actually make stuff like paper lanterns which give your room a cozy feel, or string beads across your door or mirror. If you aren't a crafty person then take some time and look around the house. You can find cloth of different colors to cover up a lamp shade. If you have a computer you could get a butterfly cordless mouse, spray paint it, put stickers on it, and/or hang your favorite stuffed animal from the top of it. You could always hang pics off magazines on your wall, and lots of other thing you could do.
- Set the atmosphere. Try these - candles, a radio, incense, comfy bed, a magazine, or a love seat/couch.
Tips
You could ask parents, friends, or siblings to help you. When you go to the store, think about little things that could make your bedroom better.
Warnings
Remember make it your own, put pictures of family and friends.- If you have a younger sibling make sure he or she doesn't mess your room up, have an alarm or a skeleton key.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Decorator Fabrics
Sponsored by Home Decorating Made Easy
If you're decorating your home, it's important that you find the right home decorating fabric. Whether you're going modern, Victorian, or classic, the theme of your home decorating will be influenced by the type of fabric you choose. If you already know what particular theme you want, do a little research online to decide which fabric will fit best. You can also choose to look at home decorating magazines or books.
Victorian theme Fabrics
For example, if you use a Victorian theme, remember that this type of theme is both feminine and quite ornate. Therefore, the home decorating fabric you choose will be brocade, velvet, or other "heavy" and rich materials. For accessories, you can choose ribbons and bows, beads and lace for trim.
Modern theme Fabrics
If you choose to go with a modern theme, you'll want vibrant and bold colors in your home decorating fabric. Usually, when you go with a modern theme, the rooms are big and spacious and the concept is "open." This is meant to draw your attention to the room's details, including the fabrics used. The walls are usually done in light or cool colors.
Oriental Theme Fabrics
Another popular home decorating theme is Oriental. With this, use elephants, Chinese dragons, screens and fans. This makes the room visually interesting and unique. The colors used are rich red, coral, jade and ivory. The Oriental theme usually uses silk as its fabric, and the rich colors stand boldly against the dark woods recommended for Oriental furniture.
Country Theme Fabrics
For a more subdued "country" theme, choose light-colored woods, crisp fabrics such as linen, and light colors, perhaps accented here and there with dashes of dark red or blue throw pillows, for example. You can also choose sturdy knotty pine and rough tweed and denim fabrics for a more rustic look.
When you use home decorating fabric, you are putting icing on the cake, basically. The furniture you add complements the colors you use. In addition, the window treatments you'll use also fit within the theme, using these same colors.
Home decorating fabrics can be found in many places
Cushions, slipcovers and curtains can be bought premade at department stores or online. Many stores or web sites also specialize in home décor and can help you with this process. If you are skilled in sewing and wish to make your own materials, it's probably best that you go to a local fabric store so that you can see the fabrics you want to choose firsthand. Store staff will also be able to advise you on patterns, threads, and accessories such as buttons, ribbons and bows. If you are considering a particular color scheme, staff will also be able to help you choose fabrics in the right coordinating and contrasting materials and colors.
Whether you choose ready-made materials or are skilled at making your own, the right fabrics can make your home decorating project a success, so that you both have fun during the process and are pleased with the end result.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Have a plan in mind

Decorating help that's quick and decisive. You're not necessarily interested in the latest decorating trends, or planning to spend a lot of money. But you want your home to function better, look more attractive and be more comfortable.
Maybe you are combining two households or moving or downsizing, and you're not sure what to keep and what to toss. Or maybe you're planning a special party (or expecting your in-laws) and are in need of a one-day makeover.
Who can help?
An "interior refiner" may fill the bill. The trademarked term was coined by Lauri Ward, a New York designer who started her use-what-you-have business in 1981. She recognized there was a market for design advice that could be accomplished quickly, relying mostly on furnishings the clients already owned. Her 1998 book "Use What You Have Decorating" is a consistent top seller at Amazon.com. Refiners take a five-day certification class in New York or complete classes online. There are more than 300 active members, including about a dozen in this area. The use-what-you-have approach has been adapted by many practitioners who specialize in one-day or per-hour consultations.
ad_icon
What w ill they do?
Refiners visit clients' homes and work alongside them to improve the function and style of a room within hours. They move sofas and chairs, swap lamps and arrange bookshelves. They leave a written plan of action for each room, sometimes suggesting future purchases. They also will shop with or for their clients. Some will consult specifically on paint colors; on displaying art and accessories; or on readying a house for resale.
What won't they do?
Don't confuse done-in-a-day refiners with organizers, declutterers or cleaning services. They are distinguished from many redesigners and restagers because they work while the client is on-site.
How much will it cost?
Members of Interior Refiners charge a flat per-room fee ranging from $250 to $350 for rooms less than 19 feet long; more for larger spaces. Other quick-fix decorators usually charge either per-room or by the hour.
How to find one?
To find an Interior Refiner in your area, see http://www.interiorrefiners.com; for others who provide similar services, check the classifieds or online Yellow Pages under Interior Designers and Decorators.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Textured Paint and Faux Finishes
Sponsored by Home Decorating Made Easy
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Textured paint and faux finishes have become more popular in recent years than at any other point in history. One reason for this is because so many home improvement stores are offering classes for those who are willing to pay the price for the paint so that the average Joe or Jane can recreate these fabulous finishes on their own walls as well. The fact is it is truly amazing what works of art can be created with the clever and creative use of textured paint.
Faux finishes create illusion
Faux finishes can be used to create the illusion of anything from plaster or brick to leather and a few amazing things in between. Those who are skilled at applying faux finishes are in great demand for their artistic talents though most home owners can do a passable job if they are willing to take the time required to properly learn the technique. Even wood grains can be imitated through the use of a talented faux finisher and paint.
Textured Paints a major design feature
Using textured paints and faux finishes can be done in almost any room in the house though they seem to be most common in living rooms and kitchens as a major design feature. There are some ambitious homeowners who have decided to take this style of painting into every room of the home. While it may seem a good idea in theory there are some drawbacks to this as well.
Textured Paints and Faux Finishes time consuming
First of all, textured paints and faux finishes are very time consuming. If you are hiring a professional to do the work their time is a lot of your money and this is something that really needs to be considered. Is the amount of time really worth the reward of the finished project as far as you, as the homeowner, are concerned? Most people find that it isn’t worth all that much money and time but others really appreciate the look and feel that it is vital to their enjoyment of their homes. Whichever category you fall into it is important that you realize that this could become a costly proposition.
Faux Finishes and Textured Paints are novel and spectacular
Another thing to consider is that many who manage to bring a texture or faux finish of some sort into every room of their homes often decide after a little while to remove some of their hard work. The reason for this is that in small doses faux finishes and textured paints are novel and spectacular. In large doses they can be more than slightly overwhelming and, more importantly, unimpressive. There is something to be said about the fact that sometimes less is more.
Better Decorating Experience
This doesn’t mean that some homes do not wear faux finishes beautifully in almost every nook and cranny. Some homes are simply meant to be decorated from one end of home to the other end. These homes are simply lovely no matter how many new finishes are added to the walls, furniture, fireplace mantles, and bathroom cabinets. There never seems to be too much in these homes. There are some homes however that beg for moderation when it comes to designs such as this. Listen to your home when decorating and you should have a much better decorating experience overall without overwhelming either your home or your guests.
Textured Paints and Faux Finishes - free workshops
If faux finishes and/or textured painting is something you would like to incorporate into your home decorating plans you should be delighted to discover that there are many, many resources both online and offline that can assist you with your goals. The first and best choice is to check with local hardware and home improvement stores in order to see if they are offering any free workshops on faux finishes or textured painting in your area. If they are then you are set. However, if they are not your local library may prove to be a valuable source for videos, magazines, and books that offer step-by-step instructions. The Internet is also an excellent source. Do not forget the value of spaces such as YouTube and Google Video as they may have some actual demonstrations or how to videos to help as well.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Tips on choosing the right furniture
Sponsored by SecretsToHomeDecoratingSuccess.com
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. As well as a place of rest, the bedroom provides an escape from stress and worry - a haven from the everyday comings and goings of family life. It’s the most private room in the house and, unlike other areas of a family home, belongs exclusively to the individual or couple who sleep there. With the right furnishings and planning, it can become an idyllic refuge that offers a great deal of comfort and relaxation.
Choice of bed
The choice of bed is of course a main consideration when decorating a bedroom. The average person spends over a third of their life in a bed so it’s important that the right kind is chosen. Symptoms such as back-pain and lack of sleep are often attributed to a poor bed and merely buying a new mattress will not necessarily alleviate these problems. The best solution is to purchase a divan and mattress together, considering that both are designed to work with each other. The big furniture retailers sell them individually or in sets.
Brass beds can prove a very attractive centre-piece and are relatively inexpensive nowadays. They offer a more traditional ambience and are suited to most styles of bedding, due to their practical design. The same is true of four-poster beds. These can provide added privacy as well as enhancing the look and feel of a bedroom. However, they are more suited to larger, high-ceiling bedrooms so careful consideration is advised if you’re thinking about buying one.
The placement of a bed is often influenced by space. The standard practice is to place it in the centre of the room, with the headboard pushed against a wall. Although this method can save space, if your bedroom is spacious it might be worth considering other layouts. The positioning of a bed might enable you to include other furniture pieces such as a desk or table. It can also provide more storage space.
Bedroom’s living space
A bedroom’s space is often divided between two people. Therefore, it’s worth considering the allocation of storage furniture to each person - it can help bring order and organisation to a bedroom’s living space. Wardrobes and cupboards are a popular means of storage and can often bring character and charm. Wardrobes with sliding doors are a more space-effective alternative to hinged versions and are available in a variety of designs. It is worth paying a bit extra if you want the sliding-door feature as budget versions often suffer from sticking runners. Chests of drawers provide a further storage option and come in the form of tall-boys and standard three-door varieties. If you don’t have enough hanging space for cloths then this type of furniture can offer an effective solution to clothes storage.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Country Home Decorating
Sponsored by HomeCraftBusiness.com
Hi gang, Rick here again from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Country home decorating is a very popular design choice. It is a style that conveys welcome and warmth. It also adds a touch of whimsy and thoughts of simpler times. These things help create a relaxing environment for family and friends to enjoy.
One of the first places that people use country home decorating is the kitchen. Kitchens are the hub of a home and should be warm and inviting. Some popular kitchen country home decorating themes are roosters, chickens, cows, and apples. These items usually have an antiqued finish on them to enhance the country theme. Some frilly gingham curtains will add just the right country touch to your kitchen.
Wreaths are appropriate in country home decorating in all seasons. You can get them to match any color scheme and reflect any theme. Not all wreaths are pine based. Some are simply branches woven together. You can make one yourself using craft supplies. There are many online sites and books that will give you step by step instructions on making wreaths. Wreaths are pretty on doors to welcome people to your home. They can also be hung as decorations inside on walls or interior doors.
Gingham is a classic way to create a country home decorating style. This fabric instantly gives a country impression. It can be used in upholstery on couches, arm chairs, dining room chairs, and more. It is also used in window treatments, and even shower curtains. Gingham is a very versatile fabric that washes well and is durable. You can use it in many decorations including wreaths and swags.
Gingham patterns can be used for more country home decorating things than just fabric creations. You can use a gingham checked wallpaper to decorate your walls. You can use the same wallpaper to accent practical things like a file organizer or a wall shelf. You can also find gingham printed shelf liners that make opening your pantry a nice surprise.
Vintage hardware is a great country home decorating idea. It adds a whimsical touch of eras gone by. You can get hardware in all different styles and finishes. You can find great vintage hardware to suit all your country home decorating needs.
Stenciling is another popular country home decorating trick. You can stencil around the top of a room like a border. You can also stencil pretty designs to match your décor on wooden shelves or homemade wall plaques. This is a great way to incorporate your personality and beliefs into your home’s decorations.
Finding country home decorating ideas is not difficult. Look for items that appeal to you and include them in your current décor. There is a lot out there, so have fun looking!

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - New Home Furnishings Boutique Opens
Hi gang, Rick here again from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Find out what everyone is talking about in Rutherford County. A new home furnishings boutique is opening Monday in The Shops of Murfreesboro at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and North Thompson Lane.
Devine Decor offers a wide variety of contemporary and upscale home accessories such as lamps, vases, mirrors, console tables, wall art, curio cabinets, chairs and more. "We feature everything to bring the home together," said owner Paula Campbell-Threatt, who has lived in Rutherford County for seven years. This is the first store for Campbell-Threatt, who previously worked in sales and marketing for Johnson & Johnson. While working there, she decorated homes on the side. "I designed my own home," she said. "When people come to my home, they see how it is decorated ... people would always tell me I needed to do this and I had an eye for decorating."
Campbell-Threatt said she decided to open her shop in Murfreesboro because she always had to go to Franklin, Brentwood and Nashville to find the pieces she wanted. The business will also offer interior design services, she said.
Devine Decor is at 519 N. Thompson Lane between Bonefish Grill and The Chop House.
The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on May 15. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and by appointment on Sunday.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Wall Art Tapestries
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Decorating a home can be very exciting. You have all these dreams of how you want the finished result to look. But you're just not sure how or where to start. You've purchased new furniture, but the rooms still seem to be missing something.
The walls look blank even though you feel you chose excellent color schemes. You're not sure what's missing, but you know it still needs something to make it special. Wall art tapestries are probably what will give your room that complete and gorgeous look.
When many people hear the words 'wall art', they usually think of paintings. You can find some beautiful paintings in furniture stores and even discount stores if you're on a budget. However, if you want your walls to have a unique look to them, you're going to want to use wall tapestries.
Wall tapestries are popular with art lovers and home owners alike, because of the unique sense of 'presence' that they have about them, that has to be seen and felt to be understood. Guests often zone out of paintings, but the presence of a tapestry usually captures their attention because of the unique feel they give to a room.
Here are some tips on selecting wall art tapestries for your home:
1. To bring a sense of 'nature' into your home
Do you feel a need to give your room or home a sense nature, to give it some freshness and natural beauty? Wall art tapestries can give this sense of nature in a warm and inviting way. If your dining room has a large blank wall, a large wall art tapestry of flowers or a perfectly kept flower bed will give the illusion of nature at its finest. Landscapes of trees or forest also give a serene beauty that is simply sublime.
2. To give a sense of expansiveness into a room
Tapestries of landscapes and verdures work wonderfully in any room, long hallways or above stairways to give an expanded sense of space. By providing a background, tapestries give a specific sense of time and space in a room, and make it look larger than it actually is. This sense of perspective is a wonderful effect that you and your guests will enjoy and talk about for a long time.
3. To bring attention to an architectural detail
Tapestry wall art are often used to bring attention to a certain architectural design that you're proud of but often is overlooked. For example, the wall above a landing in a stairway brings beauty to the area and attention to the features of the staircase that few other pieces of art work can. By giving this sense of beauty to this area, the architectural features in the area are accentuated and made so much more beautiful.
Now that you've learned a little more about wall art tapestries, you're ready to find some tapestries that appeal to your taste and capture your imagination. And when looking at your own home, whether it's a small apartment or a large estate, look for the areas and rooms that can be enhanced with the effect of a wall art tapestry.
Tom Matherson is a writer for Worldwide Tapestries which offers a range of wall art tapestries and wall decor to transform any home. See this site for the latest designs in tapestry wall art in a range of themes that you can use to enhance any room setting. Thanks to bestsyndication.com for this.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Spring Decorating Time
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas Are you feeling the winter blues? Decorating your home can help you feel happier during the long winter season and start to love being in your home. There are ways to add a little spice to your home.
With the snow relentlessly hitting our area, you may be feeling depressed. It's a common feeling during the winter, but you can change that. It all starts with great furniture.
"You need to invest in a sofa and invest in a mattress. And then from there, you other purchases can be less expensive. But, those are the two most important things," said Jessica Pearson, Interior Designer, Pearson Designs.
Pearson showed me a few choices she recommended.
"This would be a great option because it's a bench craft. It's also got wood trim and it's got high density foam in it. That will keep up nice and have a great look," said Pearson.
"This would be a great option for families because it's micro fiber so it's really easy to clean. You just clean it with a little soap and water," said Pearson.
"This is a tempur pedic bed and if you want to get the best night's sleep that you've ever had -- this is probably your best option," said Pearson.
There's a price to lift your mood. But, one that you may want to consider.
"Most of our really nice sofas start at $499 and go to like $799. You can get a really nice sofa for that price," said Carl Durk, Owner of Maple St. Sit N Sleep.
In the winter time, there are a couple of quick fixes you can do. Pearson said one of those is just adding a different color.
"Bringing in some brighter colors just to make you feel happy in the winter. When it's kind of dreary outside," said Pearson.
"I like to stick with just natural colors like yellow and green. They're soothing, but they're springy at the same time," said Pearson.
Pearson said buying new throw pillows will make you feel more at home. You can also buy paintings, clocks or mirrors to change up what's on your walls. She said no matter what: it's your house.
"If you love it, I mean, if you take a picture and you absolutely love it, it's going to make you feel better," said Pearson.
She added buying good, quality furniture is the trick along with buying items that match your style.
Many furniture stores offer interior designers to help you pick out things for your home. Pearson said while it may seem like an expensive investment to revamp your home, it may drastically change your mood. Making for a better you.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Television Decorating Shows
Hi gang, Rick Ostler here from Bedroom Decorating ideas. Television decorating shows have proven it is possible to have a bedroom that looks designer without the expense of one. Give some thought to your bedroom interior design and great things can be achieved with a limited amount money.
A bedding set should be the first decision on your list. The bedding is likely to be the most dominant element in your room, making it a good place to start planning your design. Choose a bedding in order to match it with the colors or the desired theme of your room.
The closeout bin and discounted items are a great way to create a look for your bed instead of buying sets of expensive items. Go out looking for things that will go with the bedding being sure to bring along some color swatches for an exact match. Go to a home goods or home decorating store and purchase a lot of pillows with different shapes and patterns with your key colors and give your bed a designer look by placing them at the head of your bed.
Another one of the important bedroom interior design tips is careful furniture shopping which can mitigate the high costs associated with this key element to your room design. In this case, being patient often works to your advantage - you could purchase a brand-new set of furniture today at a manufacturer’s outlet, but you could save half or even more of the cost if you scout out great bargains at yard sales and area consignment stores. New knobs and fresh paint job on the old set will accomplish a new look for the overall piece.
If you are looking for a way to spice up your sleeping quarters without spending a great amount of money, try a fresh coat of paint. Why not use bright colors if they enhance the theme you have in mind? Use one of the many different faux finishes or paint effects available from your local paint store for an exclusive look in your home.
For a unique bedroom the accessories are important and shopping for them is fun and money saving at flea markets, private sales and consignment stores. But don’t buy the first great value that you see - a piece of furniture that doesn’t quite fit the vision of your room is no bargain, no matter how inexpensive it was. In order to achieve a perfect look of your room, you must plan what things are needed to for it before you go shopping. Consulting your list will ensure that you only get what you actually need when you go shopping!
If you can picture the bedroom of your choice and know where to shop than bedroom interior design is not as hard and costly as you think. Good sales are a sure way to save money. Your patience in waiting for just the right furniture and accessories will pay off with a designer look for less. Thanks to http://decorate123.com/ for this.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Candleholders add Style
Hi gang, Rick here at Bedroom decorating Ideas with an article on how Candleholders add style and grace to your home. Among the most powerful mood enhancers in a room is the glow of candlelight. It beckons guests to its warmth, mesmerizes with its flickering and lends mystery. It casts a romantic spell on an interior.
Candleholders can be ordinary or as captivating as the dancing lights. From simple candlesticks to elaborate candelabras, table centerpieces and even wall-mounted containers, candleholders are decorative accessories that hold their own even when the votives, tapers or pillars they cradle are not lighted.
Candleholders long have been collectibles and span a rich history of design styles. Tall hand-carved, painted or gilded wood candlesticks from Italy and delicate enameled 18th-century French holders are sold at auctions and in antique shops for hundreds to thousands of dollars apiece.
Today they are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles — from luxurious to rustic, from exotic to whimsical. The variety is considerable, ranging from low-slung holders for tea lights to sculptural candleholders as tall as a couple of feet. Sconces create still other dynamics.
Depending on the style, candleholders can be grouped in odd numbers of similar glass, crystal, brass, bronze, pewter, iron, stainless steel, ceramic or wood candlesticks of varying heights. More than one type can be used in a room on tabletops, sideboards and mantels. Some candleholders are designed expressly for use in the fireplace.
Decorating with candleholders, as with other well-chosen accessories, can add personality and a note of grace, strength or elegance as an accent or focal point.
Among the most versatile designs is the hurricane, a tall glass cylinder that surrounds the candle within. From clean to traditional styles, some with curves, the simplicity transcends decor. Footed hurricanes are especially eye-catching. Metal bases can be coordinated with other metal accents in a room.
Glass and crystal candleholders add a jewel-like sparkle to a space as they interact with warm candlelight. Mosaic candleholders layer iridescent color as candlelight glows through tiny cut-glass pieces in a captivating way. Another kind of light play comes from holders with eyelet designs, such as pierced tin chandeliers. Light shines through the openings, creating intriguing patterns. Candleholders with mirrored bases, as well as those made of mercury glass, also lend reflective qualities.
Wood candleholders are perennial favorites. Dark woods have increased in popularity, as they have in furniture design, and their placement has a grounding impact similar to that of black. A contemporary option is a long, narrow container or tray with recessed spaces for a row of round tea lights. It makes a simple architectural statement as a centerpiece on a dining table or on a cocktail table. Wood pillar holders can be grouped for visual strength, a nexus on the cocktail table.
Candleholders also can be used as wall decorations. Hang individual holders in a group to create an arresting composition. Or use a single 3-foot-tall scrolled ironwork medallion that holds removable glass votive cups and serves as a piece of art.
No matter what style of candleholder you choose, integrating candlelight into your home fashions an enchanting ambience, an intimate glow, romance and the suggestion of simpler times, something that can be illuminating for all who embrace it.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Bohemian Bedroom Decorating
Hi gang, Rick here from Bedroom Decorating Ideas with Bohemian Decorating. If want to change the look of you bedroom, Bohemian decorating style is a very good option. Read on to get useful tips on Bohemian bedroom decorating.
One of the best ways to break the monotony in your life is by changing the surrounding that you live in. How do you do this? Simple! By completely changing the look of atleast your bedroom, if redoing the entire house is not possible.
If you thinking along these lines only, this article will prove as the perfect help for you. Here, we have provided a number of tips that will help you in decorating your bedroom the Bohemian way. It will involve the use of luxurious fabrics, strong colors and freestyle decorating patterns. The details are very diverse and the linens used are generously loud and heavily patterned.
Bohemian Bedroom Decorating - Items Needed
Fabrics (in bright colors)
Paint (in bright colors)
Knick knacks
Procedure
The first thing that you should do to create a Bohemian décor for your bedroom is to change the color of the walls. The trick here is to go for bold colors like red, orange, blue, etc.
The next step will be to accentuate the color of the walls with that of the linen. The color of the bedspreads and curtains should be contrasting with that of the walls.
Light fixtures and lamps are the things that you need to look into next. Select those fixtures that cast deep hues. You can even wrap the lamp shades with scarves to alter the lighting.
Use lots and lots and lots of accessories to decorate you room. Bohemian look is all about celebration. Not even a single corner should be left untouched and austere. The knick knacks that you choose should have rich colors and embellished exteriors. You can go for antique showpieces too.
Bohemian look is all about patterns and this should be included in your bed too. You can make use of quilts, bedspreads or duvets in rich colors. Accessorize the bed with an assortment of pillows, throws, blankets, etc. You can even use a mosquito net or canopy for covering the bed.
Do not leave the walls with just a bold paint. Things like atypical artwork, tapestries or wallpaper should be used to highlight it. Using wall hangings is another good option.
Some Tips
You can make use of old dupattas as well as saris to decorate the walls and windows of the bedroom.
Make use of candles. You can even burn scented candles or incense to give your bedroom a complete Bohemian look.
Never ever match one accessory with the other. Bohemian style involves the use of mismatched and unusual home decor items. Thanks to iloveindia.com for this
